Taraxa AS is a Norwegian materials science company founded in 2023. Our mission is to eliminate microplastics and petroleum-based rubber through scalable, plant-based alternatives. We are developing sustainable solutions for sports and beyond—replacing harmful materials with natural materials like plant-based rubber and plastics. We are dedicated to driving change and we are always looking to improve, like using an even more sustainable source of natural rubber - the rubber dandelion (Taraxacum kok-saghyz, or TKS).
In 2022, after following the issue for several years, our founders decided to do something about a growing environmental crisis: synthetic microplastics in artificial turf and an overreliance on petroleum-based rubber. The company Taraxa was established in 2023 to solve these problems using innovative, renewable materials.
TKS is a fast-growing dandelion species native to Kazakhstan. Unlike the Hevea rubber tree, TKS can be grown annually in temperate climates, harvested mechanically, and integrated into sustainable crop cycles. It produces two key outputs: high-quality natural rubber and the fiber inulin.
While we’re early in our journey, we’re currently growing the team to help scale our impact—with more to come soon.
